Still life and interiors

In the early days of the pandemic in New York City, when venturing out the door of our apartment was deeply discouraged, still lifes and interiors helped keep me sane.  The monumental and profound can reveal themselves in the most day-to-day detail.  This genre inspires me to mostly focus on color and composition, although occasionally a narrative suggests itself. The "scenes" are set mainly in my studio at home, with natural light when possible and artificial light when that's helpful.. In Port Townsend, Washington, with nature at my doorstep, I sometimes get to enjoy the effect of unfiltered sunshine on my subjects. I mostly work in oil, but also enjoy in the possibilities that water media offer.
This is a selection of still lifes and interiors in my possession. Hover over over an image to see a caption that includes subject, size, and medium info it. Click the image to see it enlarged, and for portrait oriented pictures, to see the full picture.
